Pssst! We Found A Secret Used Books Fair At A Jayanagar Godown

Shortcut

Hosted by Book Bonanza, a used bookstore, this fair is where you need to head to if you are looking for rare copies or to grow your library.

A Bonanza Indeed

Fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature dictionaries, self-help books, and coffee table books, and about 60-odd copies of Twilight are what make up this book fair. Funnily enough, you are likely to spot the Stephenie Meyer books along with 50 Shades of Grey almost everywhere. But look past all that and you will find good condition books of classical authors such as Joseph Conrad, the Bronte sisters, Sir Walter Scott, and Shakespeare. If classics aren’t your thing, you can browse through the fictional world created by the books of Stieg Larsson, Danielle Steel, Dan Brown, and Stephen King.

The coffee table section is filled with books that you quite don’t find in many places, save for Blossoms. But then again, at Blossom, you are paying for individual books, while here, coffee table books are sold at INR 200 per kilo. Quite a steal when a volume of Encyclopedia Britannica is about 750 grams as compared to the retail price of one volume being around INR 1,000. Expect to find anything between books on racehorses to David Beckham’s biography and books or birds, bees, and The Vatican. Children’s literature is also sold by the kilo for the same rate. There’s even an extensive collection of dictionaries including French, German, Spanish, and Italian as well. These along with novels and fiction are priced between INR 80 and INR 300.

Browsing Through

The godown is located on 3rd Cross of Someshwaranagar in Jayanagar 1st Block. Your marker is the NIMHANS Water Tank. Mind you, this is a godown, so apart from a bunch of shelves that display the above-mentioned books, there are a lot of cartons that are filled with books. Snoop around if you are okay about kicking up dust, otherwise, we’d suggest sticking to the collection on display.
