There’s a new cafe and bakery in town run by a former home baker and it’s serving up some fresh, homemade cakes and bakes — from brownies and fruit tarts to savoury pies.

We all know that homemade bakes hold a dear place in our hearts that store-bought goodies cannot replace. So it makes perfect sense that this new cafe is bringing homemade eats and treats to its display cases for us to gorge on. From a home bakery to a swish cafe on Old Airport Road, Brown Crust has come a long way since it’s inception a year ago. The cosy Old Airport Road cafe is offering everything from brownies, tarts and cake loaves to savouries like calzones, pies and sausage rolls. You have to try their Apple Carrot loaves, their Ferrero Rocher loaf and their Chicken Cupbread, all of which are crowd-favourites here apparently. They even have quite the range of muffins and cookies on offer here, so dig into Choco-Chip, Banana and Vanilla Muffins or Chocochip and Nutella Cookies. Starting at just INR 30 for a muffin, these are quite a steal. They even bake zero-guilt cakes with no refined sugar, maida or butter, for a guilt-free sweet trip.

And your sugar rush comes to you in a glass or cup too, in the form of Hot Chocolate {they have a Nutella and a Caramel Syrup version!}. Apart from that, you can sip on cappuccinos, lattes and cold-pressed juices too, that start at just INR 30 a glass.

Starting out as a small home operation, serving up bakes in the Diamond District neighbourhood for a year, Vanita Coelho decided to take the plunge and open up her own cafe. Only a few days old, the cafe even serves spaghetti, so you can get lunch sorted here if you want more than just a quick bite. They even take orders for parties and events, but don’t expect fancy pastries and icing work. You’ll be getting wholesome, homemade bakes alone and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
