What Makes It Awesome

Transforming an ancestral home into a swanky homestay, The Bungalow 1934, complete with an outdoor bonfire, plush patios, old-school kitchen and splashes of colour all over, is perfect to call home, when in Coorg. The Bungalow 1934 is a big house on a hill in Kakkabe that offers the best mix of traditional charm and contemporary quirks, as the heritage home has been revamped and refurbished with plenty of fun elements like a colourful wall, an old jeep converted into a barbecue grill, an outdoor bonfire and plenty of brightly coloured chairs and potted plants dotting the property.

With its old-world elegance preserved, the home is full of antiques and traditional furniture, like their four-poster beds, wooden tables and hunting trophies on the walls.

With a dorm (INR 2,000 per person) and standard double rooms (INR 6,250), that are nice and spacious, there’s plenty of room here to cosy up in. Their old-timey kitchen and dining area is outside the home and is manned by the lovely Sarsu, who has been cooking for the family home for the last 40 years. You’re gonna be loading up on some delicious and authentic Kodava cuisine while you’re here as breakfast is on the house. And you can take home some famous Coorg homemade chocolates that are available at the property. Get the complete Coorg experience by waking up early to sip on some fresh tea or coffee, made from the leaves and beans sourced from the plantations, taking in all of the scenic beauty that surrounds you. So what are you waiting for? Coorg, here we come!
