What's that they say about directions? Yes. Go East or West, India is the best! Best at a lot of things but most definitely unbeatable in its snacks, because killer kachodi and chai is no match to chips and juice. And when they're homemade like Ms Ritu does at Desi Chutney we don't ever want to stop snacking (and you wouldn't either). This self taught homecook and mother makes munchies that will hit home in the flavour and nostalgia department. She also uses only ingredients available at home and no added preservatives or additives.
Most of these snacks are wheat flour based, so they're healthy-ish too! It all crunch town from here. Desi Chutney's mathri is their signature and they do three variants of it. An Ajwain Multigrain, Methi and Achari (pickle spices). For the uninitiated, mathri is a deep fried snack, small spiced wheat discs, if you will. If you're more of sweet snacker, then try their Shakkarpaar or Gurpaara, essentially these are diamond squares flavoured with cardamom or fennel and then tossed in sugar or jaggery.
Desi Chutney also does a savoury version of the same, and one with an international twist. The Pudina Namakpara and Peri Peri Namakpara. What we cannot stop ODing on are the Mini Dal Kachodis and Ghee Roasted Chiwda. Yum! Pick up any of their 250gm packs for around INR 200 to INR 240 and just add to here, because Desi Chutney is available on Shop On LBB!
