Sheesha And Shakes: So Much To Love At This Rooftop Cafe On MG Road

Shortcut

Reopening after a short hiatus, Café Azzure returns with easy breezy vibes {literally too}, food for heart and sheesha for the soul.

Lowdown On The Ambience

Set atop the Pantaloons building on the corner of Brigade and MG Road, as you go up in the elevator, you’ll also be transported to a different world of blue, white and wooden décor. With an al fresco set up as well as a really airy inside area, you won’t miss air conditioning, thanks to the Bangalore breeze. Wooden tables and chairs dot the whole restaurant, with enough space for privacy. We do like the corner tables that are massive squares, ideal for big groups.

Channelling Europe

Soups and salads are on the menu, but we skipped them in favour of appetisers. The Tangy Cheese Ball was a top favourite — less cheese more potato, onions and a piquant chilli mayonnaise. The Butter Garlic Prawns were a great hit too for the simple garlic flavour that enveloped the plump prawns. We couldn’t resist ordering the Potato Basket that comes loaded with fries, spicy wedges and old-school and delicious criss-cross fries! It was a bit heavy but we polished it off, guilt-free!

Spoiled For Choice

The sandwiches and burgers here are spot on {the Lot Of Fun chicken and lamb ones are amazing!} and come with fries, so it’s a proper meal. Also, they’re huge so be warned. For mains, we picked the Café Azzure Special Pizza and the Cheese Crumbed Chicken. The pizza, though not remotely traditional is interesting. It’s like a star-shaped croissant that’s stuffed with vegetables or chicken. Nearly a pretzel, but not quite! Ours came filled with peppers, corn, cheese and we loved it for the novelty.

The Cheese Crumbed Chicken, however, was the favourite — chicken breast crumb-fried to perfection and stuffed with molten cheese, finely chopped veggies and jalapenos for that added zing. With a hint of an Indian flavour to it, it’s rather unique. Wash all this down with a cool KitKat milkshake {don’t even think of calorie counting, just drink the chocolatey goodness} or sip on their cold coffee for a caffeine kick.

So, We're Thinking...

We’re going back for sheesha and dessert very soon. It’s still cool enough to enjoy day or night, but afternoon are rather warm.

#LBBTip

Parking is available in the basement, and the only way up to Cafe Azzure is from there. So, don’t look for the elevator on MG Road!
