Winning For

Great choices for breakfast including healthy and not-so healthy ones {depending on your mood}, diverse cafe grub and convenient location.

Lowdown On The Ambience

The good thing about Cafe Felix is that it has two levels. Both have great views of Ulsoor lake. Remember Blimey? Well, that same space is now Cafe Felix. The restaurant offers comfortable seating, floral sofas to lounge around in and a section which showcases desserts and where your thick shakes get made. But the terrace section looks like it is party central, and gives out proper bar vibes with al fresco seating, a lot of space to let the balmy Bangalore breeze in, in evenings.

The same folks who run Mumbai’s The Clearing House Restaurant and the former chef {Nitin Kulkarni} of the popular Indigo restaurant in Mumbai, are now at the helm of affairs at Cafe Felix.

What's On The Menu?

Do start your meal here with Cafe Felix’s range of healthy smoothies. On request, they added no sugar to our mixed berries smoothie and we are happy to report that the natural tartness of the berries and the yoghurt did not make us miss any sweet at all. The Avocado Chocolate Shake is actually quite delicious here, and they can tone down the sugar on this one too. But our favourite has to be the very indulgent Birthday Cake Shake. The thick shake actually smells and tastes like birthday cake in a glass with vanilla ice cream, milk and a big blob of whipped cream. Plus, them colourful sprinkles to make it all the more special.

We tried a quinoa salad {lovers of this super food, you will be happy to know that Cafe Felix has plenty of dishes with quinoa in them}, which was fresh and tangy with orange segments, and greens. But the Tuna Nicoise is our pick with thick, juicy, meaty slices of tuna tossed up with crunchy edamame, boiled potato, cherry tomatoes, haricot beans and mayo.

The Fish and Chips we tried as mains was deep fried, crunchy and all kinds of delish, but we wish the fish was not basa. A shout out ought to go to the buttery potato and crushed pepper gnocchi, porcini-scented butter and roasted shallots. For hearty mains, do try the Jerk Spice Tandoor Roasted Chicken served with potato mash and a soya garlic glaze. Finish off with the old fashioned Blueberry Almond Bread Pudding.

So We're Thinking...

While the menu selection is diverse and the dishes mostly done right, the pricing here is not really cafe like. But you wouldn’t get a quinoa {an expensive ingredient} salad or a truffle oil {another pricey number} scrambled eggs at a regular cafe, would you?

#LBBTip

CafeFelix does made-to-order cookies too. Think Brown Butter Chocolate Chip or Flourless Double Chocolate . You will have to give them 20 minutes because they bake them fresh for you.
