If you, like us, prefer to eat light before a train journey, then, hit up The Bakery World at Cantonment Station. Right at the main entrance, The Bakery World is popular with passersby. And offers freshly baked treats that don’t mess your tummy. While most prefer to pick up their brown-paper bags filled with goodies to eat during the train ride, you can also park yourself at one of the benches at the railway station if you just can’t wait {there’s no seating offered by the bakery itself}. Also, if you live close by, then, The Bakery World is a great option to pick up a quick breakfast. However, finding a parking spot, around here, might be a problem.

Want something plain and simple? Then, try the Cream or Masala Buns. The Cream Buns are large and a couple of them should keep satiated through the night. They come slathered with a slightly heavy buttercream that’s speckled with colourful sprinkles. For those of you who can’t do with spice? Then, the Masala Buns are perfect. The fried up onion filling is swaddled in thin layers of bread. When you get on board, order up a chai {if you are on a day-train that is} and enjoy this one to a hilt. The warm, no-fuss banana bread that comes in small, heart shapes is also a worthy takeaway.

Apart from the regular mix of breads and buns, The Bakery World offers a range of biscuits — ragi, coconut, and badam are just some of the flavours. They also make cupcakes. Although the Ragi and Chocolate Chip cupcakes, that we spotted at the display case, looked rather dry and unappealing to us. However, the pastries had plenty of takers and you can order up cakes {100 per cent vegetarian} from them for occasions too.
