The art community in Bengaluru always looks forward to the first Sunday of the New Year because it's Chitra Santhe time! This grand festival has made impeccable traditional, contemporary and street art accessible for the city to enjoy but in its 18th edition this year it has gone completely online. This of course, is in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the interest of the artist's and public's safety, but on the brighter side, anyone now can enjoy and buy great art!
Like every year, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath will be organising and inaugurating the santhe, this time on 3 January 2021. A bunch of fun programmes are in line to happen on inaugural day and can be viewed on their official website, social media handles and YouTube channel. Best bit is that the event will be online for an entire month, and could be extended.
The festival is anticipating as many as 1,500 artists participating from across the country and abroad this time round and is especially dedicated to the noble service of Corona Warriors. The release also states that awards will be conferred to artists along with cash prizes.
