If your ideal Saturday involves good food, cocktails, music, fun people pretending they totally understand the rules of a sport, and the occasional extremely competitive rally, Bengaluru, we have found your newest weekend plan.

The Sumadhura Centre Court Pickleball League (CCPL), currently taking over weekends in the city, has become less of a sporting event and more of a full social scene. And honestly, even if you’ve never held a pickleball paddle in your life, that’s kind of the point.

With the league heading into its final doubleheader weekend before the semi-finals and finals next Sunday, the energy has noticeably levelled up. Expect louder crowds, tighter games, more entertainment, and the kind of atmosphere where people come for “one match” and somehow stay all evening.

So What Exactly Happens Here?

There’s serious sport happening, for one. Southern Primes, currently sit at the top of the league table, while teams like Nin9s, Rally Renegades, Mana BMR Smash Club, Ayana Woods Chargers, and Net Ninjas have all built loyal fan bases through the season, and will want to make it to the playoffs.

But off the court is where CCPL really comes alive.

Think Red Rhino beers, Labonel dessert, Johnnie Walker cocktails, Serious Slice pizzas, Daysie, SuzyQ, Mezcalita, Monkey Bar, Araku Coffee, Classic Coffee, Super Naati and Kahale, Serious Slice pizzas, Yuki sushi, DJs, dance crews, comedians, creators, founders, fitness communities, and Bengaluru’s very social Saturday-night crowd all hanging out in one place.

There’ve also been collaborations with groups like 56 Run Club, alongside performances by musicians Ved Prajapati and Adi Lodha (who was even on the Lollapalooza stage), dance crew The Vixens, and comedian Aamir.

Why You Should Actually Go

Because Bengaluru doesn’t really have enough events that feel genuinely social without being overly curated, awkwardly formal, or impossible to access.

CCPL somehow sits in the middle. You can watch high-level sport, grab a beer, run into half the city, make a new friend, discover a new food brand, stay for the music, and leave feeling like you stumbled into something that’s still growing in real time. All without using an app. Oh, there’s plenty of parking too!

The double-header weekend will also have a few new F&B partners, and a workout session with Black Box. And with the finals approaching next Sunday, now’s probably the best time to see what the hype is about. It’s all kicking off at 4:30 PM, and you can go on as long as you’d like. Last week, people played and partied well past midnight.

So, what’s your weekend plan?

When: 23 and 24 May, 4:30 PM onwards, with the final and semi-final games on 30 May.

Where: Centre Court Pickle Ball Arena, Chamara Vajra
