One Street, 1000 Artists & Over 10,000 Paintings: Are You Ready For The Biggest Art Mela In Town

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

A full-blown art extravaganza, the Chitra Santhe is back for the 15th time in January 2018. Gathering huge crowds of over 400,000 people in the past, this is the biggest art mela the city sees annually {the nearby roads are blocked for an entire day just for this event, so you know this is a big deal}. Featuring the work of a plethora of artists {over a 1,000} from all over the country, most of the artwork here is up for grabs at reasonable prices, which is what makes it so popular. Hosted at our very own arts and culture hub, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, the mela will be spread onto Kumara Krupa Road on Sunday, January 7.

Who Is It For?

For all you art freaks and geeks, you need to be here just to check out the talent and the scale of this art jamboree. With drawings, paintings, graphic prints, miniature paintings, caricatures and murals on offer at easy prices, so there’s something for everyone here. The whole approach of this event is ‘art for all’.

Why Should I Go For It?

Becuase you definitely want to witness this cultural fiesta. Art is literally on the roads at this santhe, from quirky sculptures made entirely of recyclables to caricature artists that’ll have a goofy portrait of you ready in no time just sitting on the pavements. And not to mention each side of the road is packed with art stalls as far as the eyes can see. Pick up a piece or two for your walls or just come on down to check out the bustling arts scene, either way, it’s a Sunday well spent.

When: Sunday, January 7

Where: Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Art Complex, Kumara Krupa Road
