House Specials in a Year-End Set Menu Avatar at Yauatcha

Ten-second takeaway

The year-end special set menu at Yauatcha is a mix of their in-house signatures.

All set

We love the fact that this Pan Asian restaurant is all about small plates {makes us feel less guilty} artfully presented food and a lovely mixture of texture and flavour. Sticking true to their style. The set menu {a five-course menu from which you can pick one dish each and end with a chef's dessert platter} here begins with a mix salad of crunchy lotus roots, pomegranate, lettuce and baby onions.

From the steamed dim sum section, we found the Chicken Char Sui bun a bit too sweet, but had no such complaints of the juicy Prawn and Chive dumplings. We tried the crispy, meaty Duck Rolls that went perfectly well with a sweet and tangy plum sauce. LBB tip: You should not miss out on Yauatcha's signature Fried Turnip Cakes served with crispy garlic and green onions.

From the stir-fried section, you can opt for the Sliced Lamb in Black Pepper sauce and the Szechuan Mapo Tofu {sweet rather than spicy} to go with the spicy Hofan noodles {gets a thumbs up from us for the house-made flat noodles, tossed with meaty mushrooms, veggies and chillies}, and the vegetable fried rice with taro root and edamame. Save room for dessert, which is a sinful Hazelnut Mousse served with a delicately-flavoured Honeycomb ice cream and some Yauatcha signature macarons.

Bottom's up

Drink 2015 out of your system with Yauatcha's bestseller cocktail called Lalu, a a vodka, litchi juice concoction muddled with lemongrass. This drink packs in plenty of flavours as well as as punch.
