Church Street's Glorious Makeover Is Now Complete And You Have To Take A Walk Down It

The information in this post might be outdated

After months of construction {and missed deadlines}, the brand new Church Street is finally open to the public allowing easy access to the many shops and restaurants that line either side of this famed road. Remember how hard it was to navigate through open trenches and rubble-filled road to get to either Brik Oven or everyone’s favourite haunt Blossom Book House?

On Thursday, March 1 the road was finally inaugurated all the way until St Mark’s Road, which means that the 750-metre stretch starting at Brigade Road is finally open, allowing easy access to pedestrians and vehicles alike. The brand new road is paved with granite cobble-stone and comes with 56 LED street lamps and nine parking bays that can accommodate 200 two-wheelers and about 16 four-wheelers. Hurrah for that because remember how difficult it was to find parking earlier? Oh and the best part, you no longer need to walk miles after you have one too many drinks at while pub crawling through Church Street. Your cab can finally come to the doorstep. But make sure to check out the cycle stands on the side walk, it’s almost like they’re playing stone, paper, scissors! No, really.
