The sun-kissed beaches of Gokarna promise plenty for the average beach lover. But if you want more, especially, if you are looking for hidden and untouched stretches of sea and sand — we recommend a trip to the coastal village of Ankola. A short 30-odd minute drive away from the bustling Gokarna, Ankola is dotted with beaches where you can spend a day picnicking.
Largely undiscovered, you won’t find many accommodation options in Ankola {except for the Honey Beach resort} so it’s best to be based out of Gokarna and make a day trip. You’ll also have to leave behind your bathing suit. But do pack a large picnic basket and plenty of beach towels. Ankola is also perfect for beach hopping so if you plan to walk along the coastline, don’t forget a sturdy pair of beach slippers or even hiking shoes for those of you keen on working up a sweat.
