Lowdown On The Ambience

Coringa lets the food do all the talking and the seating arrangement in this first-floor location is kept simple with big glass windows. We did prick our ears up at the French music piping in from the speakers, at this hardcore Andhra establishment, but we quickly forgot about it once our food arrived.

What's On The Menu?

The Chama Dumpa Vepadu {fried arbi} is what we started with. Deep fried arbi sprinkled with chilli powder and salt, what's not like? Our Bhojanam or Andhra thali arrived and comprised a pappu {dal}, a drumstick curry, a simple aloo curry, two types of rice {podi rice and tamarind rice}, a helping of fried raw bananas and some seviya payasam.

The thali was simple but really flavourful and the top marks go to the fried raw bananas, the aloo curry and the payasam. The fresh rotis and the fiery podi rice especially was very good. We also couldn't stop popping the fried arbi into our mouths throughout the meal. To give company to our vegetarian thali, we also ordered the Crab Vepudu and the Mutton Cashewnut Vepudu. Minced crab came stir fried with chillies and spices to our table and went rather well with our steamed rice, even though it can be technically be considered a starter. The mutton fried with cashewnut and spices, though tender didn't really cut it for us, in terms of flavour.

So, We're Thinking…

Go here for the Bhojanam, we'd say and add a side of seafood {it is pretty fresh} and the fried arbi if you crave something more than just a vegetarian meal. The thali trumps any other so-called Andhra style thali {Bheema's we love you, but we are also looking at you} we have had in the city.
