Skip the whole weekend business of partying or lazing around in your PJs as this weekend, there’s not one, but two dance events for you to attend and yes even get grooving. There’s also a contemporary dance showcase happening two weeks from now. Did we tell you about the workshops that you can attend with your squad and learn a trick or two and show off those skills the next time you go partying? Without further ado, here are all the deets you need.

Freeze 2017 Breakdance Festival

Freeze, the breakdance platform founded by the dance group, Black Ice Crew, is back and this time around they are bringing back German breakdancing icon Niels Robitzky or Storm as he is known in the breakdancing circuit to judge and conduct workshops as well. Starting this Friday, November 24 this three-day festival will have B-boys and girls from all over the country battling it out to mad beats by DJ Nobunaga from the Netherlands. The workshops will focus on popping and breaking while the battles range from one-on-one breaking/popping battles to squad battles featuring seven members.

When: Friday, November 24 to Sunday, November 26 from 10 am

Workshop: The Hub, Above Safina Plaza, 84/85, Infantry Road

The VillAGE Dance Performances

A community dance initiative, this event will see all dance establishments from the city come together and perform their work. This edition will see over 25 teams presenting their routines at the Alliance Francaise de Bangalore. Sounds cool, right? Wondering what kind of dance routines? Well, you’ve Afrontal who will be performing a mix of afro + whacking {no idea what that is? Attend this event then}. Then there’s Vyuti Dance Company that will be performing a Bharatnatyam, while Bindu Bolar will be belly dancing. Oh, and Sazon De India will be grooving to Latin music while you’ve Minoti getting the Carribean vibes with her salsa routine. Basically, the platform also aims at providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work, so if you know anyone, you know where to head with them this Saturday, right?

When: Saturday, November 25 from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Company Wayne McGregor's FAR Contemporary Dance Performance

A winner of multiple awards including two Olivier Awards {awards to recognise excellence in professional theatre in London}, Wayne McGregor has over 20 years of experience in the contemporary dance circuit. He’s also a Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet School. Part of a multi-city tour, his troupe Company Wayne McGregor will be showcasing FAR, a dance performance that’s been inspired by the Age of Enlightenment, where ten dancers will perform to a score by composer Ben Frost.

When: Wednesday, December 6 from 7.30 pm

Where: Chowdiah Memorial Hall, 16th Cross, G.D. Park Extension, 2nd Main Road, Malleswaram
