Uttara Kannada’s famous Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected tiger and elephant reserve. But it is the winged beauties that deserve a fair share of your attention. Home to more than 200 species of birds, you can get an eyeful of the famed Great Hornbill and the Malabar Pied Hornbill here. Also, don’t forget to drop by the neighbouring Kali Tiger Reserve (formerly known an Anshi National Park) where apart from tigers you might even spot the elusive black panther.
