What we ate and drank
Mostly sticking to North Indian cuisine with a handful of Chinese dishes, the menu at Delhi Zaika is pretty impressive. With interesting varieties in vegetarian, chicken and egg dishes, they definitely spoilt us for choice. We started off with the Malai Paneer Tikka which were soft to bite into, with just the right hint of spices. Considering how we love their super-soft Tawa Fulka, we suggest you give the rice dishes here a miss, when it comes to main course.
The Dal Makhani, creamy and slightly sweet, tastes heavenly with the fulka, and we didn’t mind mopping it all up happily. The Paneer Kofta, which had just enough spicy, came in a rich, thick gravy made all the better with bits of cashewnuts strewn in it. Feeling adventurous, we also opted for a helping of their Chicken Punjabi Masala which won us over with its flavourful {not to mention, fiery} taste. We gladly topped off the meal with tumblers of cold lassi {sweet or salty, as per your choice}.
The DL on the ambience
While it looks inconspicuous from outside, the place has a nice, rustic ambience. With its open-air seating and the use of mud-like texture and bamboo on its walls {with an artwork or two to go with it}, it almost reminds you of a cosy dhaba.
So, we’re thinking…
Perfect for those times when the craving for yummy North Indian fare strikes, we are definitely bookmarking Delhi Zaika for repeated visits {without worrying about getting our pockets too light}.
