The best two things about childhood - drama and reading - are coming together at the Dum Duma Festival, this weekend. Created especially for the children and hosted by Atta Galatta, the two-day festival is set to unfold on December 8 and 9. Apart from a bunch of kiddie-friendly plays, children can sign up for play readings and a host of other fun activities.
On the first day, children (above the age of four) can swing by for 'The Rainbow Fish' - a shadow puppet play about a beautiful but selfish fish who discovers loneliness. There’s also ‘Sparrow & the Crow’ - an enactment of what happens when two, great friends (the sparrow and the crow) are caught in a rainstorm. At the end of day one, there’s the ‘Day The Crayon Quit’ - a play based on an award-winning book that centres around the events that unfold after a box of crayons decides to protest. Day two begins with ‘Dinner at 8’ - a play that’s meant for toddlers between the age of 1.5 years and three. The steel utensils that are an integral part of the play are perfect to attract the tiny tots. There’s also ‘Whose Apple is it Anyway?’ - a play that involves a roach, a carnivore and a human.
