A Green Market
Every first Saturday of the month, Bhoomi College a four-acre campus, surrounded by hills, in Sarjapur hosts farmers markets. They bring in local and also organic farmers from the area as well as from other parts of Karnataka. If you love consuming fresh produce that has been grown sustainably, then, do head here and take home bags {you’ll have to bring your own cloth bag} of fruits, vegetable, herbs, and greens. You can also pick up jaggery, oil, and coconuts.
While here, you can also roam the grounds. They campus is dotted by hundreds of trees and is a great place to spot colourful birds and butterflies. They also host interactive sessions like tree walks and story-telling sessions so don’t leave the kiddies at home.
The Earth Is Our Home
Bhoomi College was founded in 2010 by Seetha Ananthasivan, an expert in inner and outer ecology. The college offers long-term and short term courses in ecology and sustainable living. They regularly host weekend programmes and internships that you can sign up for. In the past, they have conducted workshops on topics like organic gardening, connecting with Nature through theatre, and including millets in your meals.
