Girls, Roll Over to Play Arena This Weekend For A Free Skateboarding Workshop

What Is It?

Woot! Girl Skate India and HolyStoked Collective are having a free skateboarding workshop for girls this weekend. The sesh will be coached by Atita Verghese, India’s first professional skateboarder, along with guest coaches Lisa Jacob from France and Yukiko Komori from Japan, so you’re definitely going to be learning some cool tricks. The workshop will be followed by a film screening of the first full length all female skate movie to be made in ten years, Quit Your Day Job and the Girl Skate India Tour Film. Free workshop plus movies? Yes, please!

Who Is It For?

All you ladies out there who have been putting off picking this skill up — time to get on board {literally}. And when we say all ladies, we mean it. The workshop is for girls and women of all ages and abilities, so never say never.

Why Should I Go For It?

Let’s be honest, the world of skating easily feels like a boys club and it’s going to be a while before people start getting their little girls skateboards and kneepads. Girl Skate India is trying hard to make skateboarding a sport for everyone and this is the perfect chance to join in the movement. And we all secretly wanted to be those kids in Rocket Power zipping around town on skateboards, so here’s the opportunity to pick it up. There’s games and prizes to be won too. Plus you get to watch two movies as well {which is open to everyone, not just girls}. And don’t worry about boards, if you’re a beginner you’ll be given one for the workshop.

Where: Play Arena, No. 75, Opposite Silverwood Regency Apartments, Central Jail Road, Kasavanahalli

When: Sunday, March 19

Timings: 2.30pm {workshop}, 5pm-6.30pm {film screenings}
