Oh how we love a house with great furniture. Be it elegant, quirky, contemporary or classic, a sofa, table or even a bed, can say so much about the people living in the home, no? That’s why it is OK to be picky about what you buy. Or at least we think so! But it certainly isn’t easy! What with every person in the family having a different idea and favourite colour. And even more so when you’re from out of town, and you’re not even sure where to begin. So LBB will help you move in by giving you our pick of furniture stores. Go on, make that house a home.

The big daddy of all things home, this furniture store is the go-to place for more mainstream stuff. If you’re setting up a new house, then the colour co-ordinated bed room and living room sets can make shopping easier. But if you’d like each room to have its own personality, they have varied types, colours and forms of beds, sofas, dining sets and cabinets. So, go on, unleash the artiste in you and mix and match here. While they offer mostly simple aesthetic units {using wood, veneer and wicker}, they also cater to the needs of the more experimental shopper {like the tempered glass coffee table that is curvy like none other}. Multi-shelf storage units, chairs and tables come in various shapes and sizes, to add value to your space. OK, we’ll stop now.

FabIndia

Merging traditional carpentry with modern concepts and design, FabIndia’s furniture collection is yet another testimony to their persistence on handmade goods. All of their furniture has been made from cultivated wood, hence the timeless look and feel. Simple yet solid, we like their fuss-free bed room units {including beds, wardrobes and bed side tables} that add some old-world dark wood charm. There is nothing extravagant about their designs, but their sense of ease is probably what we love most. What’s not to adore about earthy and homely furniture made from Agacia, Daig, Sheesham and Mango wood?

Furniturewalla

Their products are creativity at its best. Using faux leather, stainless steel, fabric and mirrors among other materials, Furniturewalla’s style is sophisticated and nothing close to ordinary. Most of their designs stand out and their units are uber cool. Think adjustable and movable backs, arm, leg and head rests for sofas. Plus, luxe dining tables with artsy bases and end/side tables reinvented in retro trunk designs. Home furniture goals, or what?

Chumbak

It’s hard, nay impossible, to ignore Chumbak’s creative quirk. They transmit it on to their furniture as well. They have units for you to get creative with for your rooms. Plus bean bags or pouffes that we’d put in our cosy reading room or the balcony, breakfast tables for our beds {most important for anniversaries, birthdays, and Valentines Day, no?}. We’ll happily splurge on their double sofas to add some grand quirk and colour in our bedrooms. In fact, we’d suggest you buy your furniture here, before designing the house!

The Purple Pony

The retro character of its home products can be very effective. Pastels, textures and moods are key words to their furniture styles. The accented Bergere chairs that belong in your living room {or a French vintage home}, detailed white wood cabinets for the romantic in you and hand carved classy console tables to accentuate your study room – there is so much purpose to their pieces, we feel. That the products ooze charm and elegance is a bonus, especially if you want colour but not quirk.

Westside

While Westside is better known for its apparel, they also provide reasonably priced home furnishings. With good quality finishing and sturdy designs, their chairs, coffee tables and bed sets are reliable and strong. Don’t take their designs for granted, though. They can be quite charming when used to accentuate your room.
