Once an ancestral home, and now a setting for  elaborate engagements and grand wedding receptions, couples, be sure to bookmark the gorgeous and traditional Ganjam Mantapa for your special date.

Traditional Meets Gorgeous

We did say it was an ancestral property, right? Well, this used to be the ancestral home of prominent diamond jewellers, which has been converted into a gorgeous spot for ethnic weddings. Being ancestral, you will notice it’s got the traditional South Indian architectural design through and through, giving this place it’s distinct old-world charm.

Sloping tile roofs, a garden courtyard with a multi-level water body, and well-lit space are other things on offer. Oh, the garden courtyard is an absolute beauty when decked up with flowers, and with flowers in the waterbody, you’ve got yourself an Insta-worthy locale to take selfies with the BFF. But don’t think that’s all there is to this place. A wedding photographer’s dream canvas, given the amount of natural light there is, there’s plenty of nooks and spots for you to get your pre-wedding shots done as well.

Did we tell you about this huge spiral staircase where you can get one of those series of photos of you descending decked up like a queen and ready to slay it on the D-Day? Very Bollywood-like we say, but hey, it’s your day, so go all out! The old-world charm of the space lets you do all that and more. And trust us when we say that it’s truly gorgeous when it’s decked up to the tee. It’s full-on ethnic wedding scenes at this Mantapa.

The Space

Now, the property is roughly divided into two — main hall with the courtyard and dining hall. The well-lit space of the main hall is beautifully done with carved doorways, antique wooden columns, and that typical red-oxide floor that were common amongst these ancestral properties. With a capacity to host 400 odd people and giving the location, you could say it’s ideal for not just weddings but also hosting cultural events and other ceremonies. Just above, you have a viewing gallery that offers a bird’s eye view of what’s happening below. Get the photographer to work his magic, we say.

Moving on to the dining hall, it has a standing capacity of 150 if you are going for a buffet. But the space in itself is a place of beauty with its tiled roof with interspaced glass tiles that give this place that subtle natural lighting. Ethnic paintings, greens, and the whole ambience of old world goodness add to the charm while your guests eat their way through the menu that’s prepared at the well-equipped kitchen. This space can double up as a spot for small functions and cultural evenings, so maybe if you know someone looking for a space to host their child’s Arangettam {debut performance on the stage}, you know where to refer them.

For Bride And The Tribe

Since you and your squad need all the time to slay it on the main stage, there are enough and more rooms for you and your posse to check into. Six rooms in total make up the accommodation facilities and are completely well-equipped. Two are downstairs for convenience, while rest is up the spiral case, by the gallery.
