Garden Manor in ooty

Source: Garden Manor

One of the newer properties to spring up in picturesque Ooty, Garden Manor is one of the rare hotels that offers a pocket-friendly stay without skimping {too much} on the facilities. The pristine white hotel is packed with snug rooms that are equipped with flat-screen TVs, comfortable beds, and small balconies that overlook a garden. It’s perfect if you are the kind of traveller who needs a nice room to sleep in after exploring Ooty through the day. Do note that while the rooms don’t lack in the basics, they are pretty compact and don’t afford much of wiggle room. You should keep that in mind if you are travelling with extra baggage {and children}!

If you are looking to make the most of the facilities here, then, do try their rooftop restaurant. The restaurant is made up of a few bare chairs and benches where you can sit around and take in the surrounding scenery while tucking into your meals {don’t expect extraordinary grub here, but if you are on a budget or too lazy to venture out, it will do the trick}. The hotel also has a travel desk that will arrange for sightseeing trips on your request.

Centre Field

The best part about parking yourself at Garden Manor is the location. You can walk to the centre of town, Charring Cross, in a few minutes. Here you’ll be able to do a bit of shopping or grab a quick bite. Ooty’s splendid Rose Garden and Botanical Garden is also a short dash away. At the first place, you can stroll by garden paths lined by miniature roses, ramblers, hybrid tea roses, and polyanthas that are among over 20,000 species that Gardens display. The Botanical Gardens too are a must visit. The terraced garden occupies the lower slopes of the Doddabetta Hills {another famous sightseeing spot} and covers several hectares and showcases flora species from across the globe. While here, you have to spend some time gaping at the fossil tree trunk that is over 20 million years old!
