The Jungle lodges in Kabini is a perfect getaway place from the mundane especially during this dark time, to connect with pure elements of Mother Nature. A mere 5-hour drive from Bangalore city, this is a haven for every nature enthusiast and wildlife lover. An institution solely run by the Government of Karnataka, JLR is the facade of eco-tourism and has been playing host to a diverse population since the 80s. Beautiful cottages, tents, and dorms are available for accommodation with breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all the patrons. They also arrange for boat and jungle safari every day. Everything will be taken care of by them, you need only bring your clothes and your camera gear. The administration adheres to every precautionary measure there is in the book for our safety. Due to COVID-19, they now only accept 50% capacity of the accommodation, so do reserve in advance. Each room is sanitized thoroughly before the occupancy. The kitchen staff wear mask, shields, hairnets, and gloves while working and serving food. They check your temperature before leaving for the safari and ensure that you wear a mask. I was satisfied with their safety methods but I was even more stumped with the lush vegetation and thick greenery. The Kabini river gently sways right next to the food hall where one can spot plenty of aquatic birds and do some landscape photography. When not in safari, the river spot is ideal for a little solitude that we all seek. I tip my hat to the jungle safari. Soaking in the greenery of the forest and watching the animal kingdom come alive is nothing but pure bliss of serenity and tranquillity. It is a magical adventure that every individual has to experience. Having said all this, I insist that if/when you visit, do take all the precautionary measures required. It would also help if you browse their website thoroughly before you visit for the dos and don’ts.
