Formerly a kiosk in VR Bengaluru, Whitefield, Gobble Up Churros has now opened up a cute cafe in Indiranagar. They do all kinds of Spanish tapas and treats like empanadas, patatas bravas and open sandwiches. Plus, they have weekend breakfast and a vegan menu too.

Mucho Delicio

The cafe is tiny but pretty cute with a semi al fresco seating with yellow tables and wooden benches. There’s also seating inside, but it can get a bit stuffy, so find a place outside. The menu is pretty extensive here. Apart from a big churros section — you can pick from regular to those filled with all kinds of gooey goodness and even minis, you will find Ensalada {or salads} such as tuna to roasted red pepper and olives. Montaditos or open faced sandwiches, cold coffees, milkshakes, Churro sundaes, and Pasteleria or Spanish cakes are other exciting things on the menu.

But what you need to start off with are the Patatas Bravas, Spain’s famous fried, crispy potatoes served as tapas usually. We tried the salt & pepper version {a spicy one is available too} served with the most delish cheesy dip and a chilli salsa. Can you go wrong with fried potatoes? No, you can’t. Next up we tried a spinach and corn Empanada and a pulled chicken one. Unlike its fried cousin the samosa {hello Moorish connections}, empanadas are baked and come with a thicker pastry shell. These were pretty filling and can make wonderful party snacks.

In Churros We Trust

The cafe offers the classic churros, basically thin strips of fried dough, which you can dip into a chocolate or a hazelnut sauce. These come dusted with sugar and cinnamon. You can also opt for a chocolate drizzle. Then there are the bigger sizes with fillings such as dark chocolate, banana fudge, hazelnut or more. If you are going with your gang, it might make sense to first try the mini churros {a set of four} if you want to try a selection. The Dark Chocolate one gets a thumbs up from us.

Weekend Scenes

Gobble Up Churros also does weekend breakfast, between 8am and noon, where you should definitely try their Spanish Omlettes paired with breakfast churros and washed down with caffeine of course. They also do boxes for parties and corporate events and have cool dine-in set meals where you can pick from an open faced sandwich, a churro and a drink.
