Ten-second takeaway
The Swedish retail brand will open today for business. And the LBB Crew was there at the press preview yesterday, to give you a lowdown on what to expect.
Run, lola run
Before the madness ensues today at 11 am {that's when the store opens to the public}, and an endless queue snakes up onto the Whitefield Road, let us give you, dear reader, a sneak peek into what H&M Bengaluru has in store. As you enter the store {all of 30,000 square feet}, you will be greeted with H&M's latest spring summer collection comprising easygoing silhouettes, lots of cotton, with peasant-style tops, cold shoulder tops, button down skirts, shift dresses {some are from the Conscious collection, tagged in green, which implies that they have been made with sustainable practices}.
Choices galore
Next up is the season-neutral Basics section where ladies can stock up on tees, sweat pants, t-shirt dresses and even lightweight cardigans. The Activewear section includes apparel for training and yoga. Here you will find some of the garments made with Dry Fit, a world class fabric used in making training wear. Need to stock up on warm jackets or hoodies? You will find them here throughout the year.
Plus-size fashionistas, you don't need to feel left out any longer. There is an entire section devoted just to you with fashionable clothes that do not resemble sacks at all. The Modern Classics section offers dresses, skirts, trousers and formal tops {lace and florals dominate} geared towards the working woman. H&M Mama is for expecting mums while the kidswear section upstairs will have you wish that you were still a little tyke with its trendy dresses, rompers, sneakers, activewear and even sleepwear for the mini-mes. #LBBTip: Buy three pieces of clothing from the kids section and you only pay for two.
Attention men!
The Men's section upstairs gets its own generous space with formals, casuals, shoes, and accessories all finding their place in the sun. Menfolk, don't miss out on Modern Essentials {a category curated by David Beckham himself} and do pick up the Easy Iron Shirt {doesn't need ironing} priced at a mere INR 999. But what we especially loved was a section called Divided {for men and women}, an ode to current fads, influenced by popular culture, music and music festivals.
So, we're thinking…
Finally, quality doesn't mean steep pricing and when you will see H&M's competitive pricing, you will agree with us. Prices start as low as 500 for clothing. Plus, expect a Coachella-inpired festival collection to hit the shelves soon and H&M's annual collaboration with a fabulous design house {last one was with Balmain Paris} will launch in May.
