Ten-second takeaway

It's handicrafts galore at Kuteera 2016 with toys, home products and accessories from around the country.

Crafty goods

Organised by Crafts Council of Karnataka, Kuteera 2016's exhibition and sale might be a splendid way to begin your first shopping spree of the year. Offering traditional and contemporary handicrafts, the event has 50 craft units from across the country presenting their wares. Keep an eye out for this year's main attractions including Manipur Black Pottery, Terracotta Jewellery, Sikkhi Grass Baskets and Mirzapur Carpets. Of course, on home turf, Karnataka seems to have quite a stomping display with wooden dolls from Kinhal {North Karnataka}, vegetable-dyed lacquerware toys from Channapatna, stoneware from Halebeedu, Bidriware {metal handicraft from Bidri}, puppets, boardgames and more.

Do up your home

Planning to spruce up your space? Choose from the furnishings and decor so you can do up your bed rooms with woollen durries from Uttar Pradesh, cotton durries from Warangal {Telangana}, and stock up on ceramics and handmade paper products as well. While you're at it, shop for Kondapalli toys from Andhra Pradesh and Varanasi toys from Uttar Pradesh.
