We will never tire of discovering Japanese restaurants in Bangalore, and what a gem Hatsuhi on 100ft Road is! Pick seating based on your mood – verdant balcony seating, lots of Japanese art, origami inspired decor and lighting (full marks for their Akari style lighting in the private dining area) make it a welcoming spot at the outset.
With an extensive menu, they have something for sushi lovers, noodle lovers, and even cocktail lovers. You could always start with their Tempura options or Edamame, but we loved their Tofu Salad with Gomae Dressing. The silken tofu was luxuriously creamy, and the accompanying sauces and kimchi made it all the more refreshing. We recommend sharing if you want to try their other offerings – their portions are bigger and more filling than you think! Definitely sample their salmon options (the sushi was a hit) and the Dashimaki Tamago is worth trying as is the Yaki Onigiri (the one with the bonito flakes won for us). If you somehow have space for more, the bento boxes or ramen bowls should sort you out, or just settle for a comforting Japanese Curry and rice.
They have a range of signature cocktails with soju and sake (and plenty with sparkling wine and regular wine too). Not using any artificial sweeteners or sugars, the flavours in the cocktails really shone through; the Cranberry Tea for those who enjoy cocktails on the sweeter side and the Raw Mango (or Guava) Marie for a smooth, refreshing quencher. We’re already planning our next meal there!
