Bangalore e-commerce label Indelust {with both a physical store in the city and an online presence} is the country’s answer to luxury website Net-a-Porter.com, but with a strong focus on Indian crafts and ethical fashion.

Ethical style

Started by Bangalorean Sana Rezwan (who now calls New York home), Indelust is an online store that curates apparel, accessories, kidswear and home decor by Indian designers and labels. What sets it apart though is that it goes that extra conscientious mile to ethically source products made by craftspeople who work under fair conditions and wages. They also shine the spotlight on Indian textiles, design, and emerging designers from India, Srilanka, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Indelust also works with NEST, an international NGO which keeps the suppliers in check when it comes to ethical fashion and the codes that govern them.

Designs on you

While we Bangaloreans are lucky to have the offline version of Indelust with a brick-and-mortar store in Residency Road (more opportunity to browse, explore and actually look and try out clothes and accessories), the online inventory is  well-stocked  too. Here you will find designers such as Rahul Mishra (with his ethereal and intricate embroidered dresses and tops), Ruchika Sachdeva’s minimalistic, androgynous label Bodice, Huemen’s edgy creations, the easygoing silhouettes of 11.11 Cell Design, bohemian threads from Nor Black Nor White, gorgeous sarees from Abraham and Thakore and Rimzim Dadu’s surface texturing and intricately embroidered apparel. Look out for the latest addition to Indelust’s inventory with Behno, an ethical global fashion brand with roots in India.

For the magpie in you

You will be spoilt for choice if you are looking for baubles to go with your ensemble or even that statement bag. We love the bucket bags and roomy clutches from Cord, slick backpacks from Vitasta, Singapore-brand Dvibhumi’s bold armour-like jewellery, Kichu’s tribute to the animal world and taxidermy ( think shark tooth rings, beetle pendants) and Dhora’s minimalist aesthetic with their fine jewellery. Structured backpacks from Square Loop, exotic tea blends from No5 Clive Road, adorable kidswear from Milkteeth, and comfortable quilts from Safomasi are on our lust list.

So, we're thinking...

What we love about Indelust is its excellent curation of independent designers, focus on tasteful aesthetics and staying away from the usual Bollywood influenced glamour and bling.
