Road trips can make anyone hungry and if you are looking to satisfy your hunger, why not do it the carnivorous way at the Jai Bhuvaneshwari Military Hotel, en route to Mysore.

Meat And Greet

The military hotel {or as they spell it out ‘miltary hotel’} is one of the many hotels that are located alongside the Bangalore-Mysore highway {NH275}. Open from 7.30 in the morning for breakfast, the hotel stays open till 11.30 in the night. While the morning breakfast fare consists of thatte idli, mutton leg soup, mutton chops, and botti gojju, it’s the lunch and dinner fare that needs feasting upon.

You can start your meal with a bowl of leg soup that packs a peppery punch before digging your spoon or taking a hands-on approach to the Mutton Chops and Brain Fry. Pepper Chicken and Mutton Botti are also there to feast upon. Lunch consists of having to choose between ragi mudde, plain rice or chicken biryani. We say skip the biryani and go all out with the plain rice {or the mudde} and the Mutton Kheema Ball curry and chicken gravy. The masala-rich curry goes perfectly well with white rice and you are most likely to end up asking for another helping of rice. Other curries include Chicken Kurma and a spicy non-veg gravy. The spice levels on all the dishes are on the higher level, so you might want to keep a bottle of water or Coke handy. The menu for dinner is same as lunch.

Locating The Place

Non-descript at first, the orange building with its painted signboard screaming the hotel’s name in both Kannada and English, can be missed if you are zooming past. Slow down as you ride past the HP Petrol Bunk and you are likely to see the hotel as you approach it. Parking is limited. There’s a paan shop outside the hotel and you might want to wash down all the spice with a sweet paan.
