Jamie Oliver is in Bangalore! Well, his namesake pizzeria that is. Jamie Oliver's Pizzeria's 15th outlet in the country and the first in Bangalore is located near the food court in Phoenix MarketCity. The 60-seat space with chessboard floors and a large mural of Bangalore city makes for a casual dining space to check out with friends and fam. The menu obviously focuses on the pizza and is divided between Classic and Rebel, with the latter being more not-so-traditional flavours. We ordered a portion of Chilli & Cheese Garlic Bread and Fiery Fries to start with. The garlic bread comes with an olive tapenade which couldn't stop scooping onto the bread. The spicy fennel rub on the fries was quite interesting and different from what we've usually had. Definitely going to order that again.
The 11-inch pizza, we are told is hand-stretched and Neapolitan style, and we decided to give the classics a skip (Margherita and Pepperoni) and instead went with a Chicken Chilli Freak. The pizza has the signature chilli freak sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, pulled chicken, jalapenos, chillis, minty yoghurt, and lime. The minty, acidic, cheesy, and spicy flavours worked for us. We liked the fact that the base wasn't soggy from all the yoghurt and sauce. If you're taking one home, it'll make best for a breakfast pizza too. To finish off the meal, we stuck to a not-so-sweet (we like that!) tiramisu.
We're definitely going back for more when we are on that side of the town, especially to try out the Peperonata Chick and the Chicken Parm from the Not Pizza section. Vegetarians, there are eight kinds of pizza for you to try out.
