These Kathak classes happening in the city may be your chance at imbibing some of the grace and poise of the dance form that’s all about telling a story through movement.

Everybody Dance Now

Keep your gungroos {those anklets with little bells on them} ready as seasoned Kathak dancer, Arpita Banerjee will be taking us through the basics of the North Indian dance form and by the end of it, we’ll be dancing like Madhuri Dixit in Devdas. A beginners class, this is for all you noobs out there, so don’t worry about having any prior experience.

The classes are open to kids and adults and are conducted only on the weekends for an hour each on Saturday and Sunday. Apart from picking up a new skill and art form, the classes will prove to be quite the fitness routine as well and will get your torso, legs, arms and upper body working. At INR 2,500 for a month of classes, you’re entitled to discounted rates if you sign up for three months or six months.

Keep It Traditional

Conducted by Arpitha Bannerjee, the Kathak dancer has many titles and accolades to her name. Bagging the West Bengal State Academy Award when she was just 11 years-old and holding an MA degree in Kathak, Bannerjee is sharing her skills with all of us. As you know, Kathak is all about telling a story through dance and this is a great opportunity to learn the classical art form. And with a Guru like Arpitha Banerjee, who has performed on big stages all over the world, learn from one of the best in the game.
