If you’re around from the 90s, you’ll surely remember swimming at this iconic pool, on the banks of Ulsoor Lake. You probably learnt to face your fear of water and heights here — the former when the coach chucked you into the deep end, and the latter when he forced you to dive from the 374286-foot high diving board {OK, maybe it’s not that high, but sure seemed that way!}. So that the space is reopening after nine whole years, is some stellar news. Or as President Trump would say: “It’s Yuuuuge”. The 40-year-old swimming centre was a real hub back in the day, and you’re likely to have shared the pool with Olympic swimming Nisha Millet even at some point. But after many a lofty promise of its “reopening in two-three months”, it is finally open {to the public on Monday, April 24}. And what is possibly better news, is that Nisha Millet herself is at the helm of it all, as her swimming academy won the tender for this pool! Yaaaay! Swanky, six-lane and with a little play area for mini swimmers, the KSP is back and we are slightly disappointed that we can’t dive in from the legendary two-level diving board. But we’ll still longingly look at it from Kensington Road!
