What's Happening: A Kerala food festival celebrating some of God's Own Country dishes from five major cooking style -- Syrian Christian, Malabari, Plantation, Back Water, and Toddy Shop. Tuck into Meen Manga Curry (Mango & Fish Curry) and Kozhi Varattiyathu (Chicken Dry Fry) from the Syrian section and dig into Kappa Meen Puzhukku, which is a toddy shop staple of boiled tapiocas and fish. Don't miss out on the backwater specials such as Kuttanadan Duck Roast and Kovalam Nand Roast (Crab Roast). Pair all this with Kerala rice, idiyappam (rice hoppers), ghee rice and biryani. We (the writer is a Keralite) felt at home having mopped up all the Meen Mullagithu (Fish In Chilli) and Kozhi Chukka (Chicken) with idiyappams and white rice. Do ask for Chef Saji Alex's recommendation when it comes to Back Water cuisines, because he's from Kottayam.
Price: INR 1,700
Make A Note: If you are new to the whole Kerala cuisine, ask Chef Saji Alex, who's behind festival to help you out. Plus, the festival is only during dinner and buffet style, with each day a different cooking style.
