Kylie’s The Bao Shop is now open in Indiranagar, with a much bigger menu, including new baos and hearty Asian bowls. Plus, an entire section dedicated to dessert baos.

Bao Wow

Remember we told you first that Kylie’s The Bao Shop is coming soon to Indiranagar. Well, we are happy to report that they are now open and with a big menu of baos and meal bowls. While you will still spot old favourites like the Teriyaki Chicken, Char Sui Pork and Goan Chorizo, you will also find now interesting options such as the Coffee & Cumin Chicken, Broccoli & Water Chestnuts, Double Cooked Dou Ban Jang Pork and more. Sounds gourmet, right? Then have a read of their meal-in-a-bowl offerings. There’s Peri Peri Spiced Chicken Buddha Bowl, the Massaman Beef Curry Bowl, Burmese Khao Suey, Vietnamese Vegetable Poke Bowl and lots more.

Just Take Away

Kylie’s is located on 100 Feet Road where Creme & Crust used to be. I think the only bummer might be that the space is kind of hidden way back in the building and might be difficult to spot, until and unless you are specifically looking for it. The same colourful chairs and now some community benches and tables line the walls. The place is still an order, eat and go kind of place. So might we suggest that you just order in if you are in Indiranagar. They are already on Swiggy and Zomato.

Bao Chika Bao Bao

Coming back to the food, we decided to try a breakfast bao {we call it that in our minds at least} which was the Triple Grilled Bacon Maple And Eggs bao. Bacon is grilled in three ways, slathered with maple butter and then packed into soft, pillowy baos with plenty of Szechuan chillies, sun-dried tomato juliennes, pickled carrots and, wait-for-it, those 8-minute ramen eggs {those jammy eggs guys}. This went straight to my best dishes of 2017 list. Forget breakfast, I was going to eat this for lunch and dinner as well. The bacon was grilled to perfection, the intense and pungent flavours of the accompanying condiments complimented the meat and the soft boiled eggs were killer.

Moving on, we also tried the tamer Moroccan Harissa Chicken, which was saucy and spicy, but it needed more heat as the red chilli slivers just weren’t enough. The grilled chicken was juicy as well. Oh, and more of that jalapeno aioli sauce, please! We also tried the Kaffir Lime & Bird’s Eye Chilli Pork Bowl, which came with generous chunks of succulent meat with loads of fat {if you love that stuff} with a sticky sauce on a bed of wok-fried maple bacon egg rice. We wish the dish was a bit more lemony though. There was nothing to fault about the red snapper bowl, with the fish perfectly grilled, but it did need some kind of sauce to go with the rice.

So, We're Thinking...

The pricing here is quite affordable and baos start at just INR 160 {you will get two portions} and bowls are also nicely priced at INR 250. The quality of ingredients is excellent and we are going back to try the dessert baos that come in sinful flavours such as Coconut Malibu Chocolate, Peach Truffle, Walnut Brownie Banana & Nutella, and Zesty Lemon Creme Brulee Cookie.
