Shopping At The Leela Collonnade On A Budget. We Tried But Did We Conquer?

The information in this post might be outdated

I’ve never gone to the Leela Collonnade to shop because well, it looks very expensive. But at LBB, we never shy away from taking on a challenge. So armed with INR 10,000 {remember UB City?}, I went shopping at The Leela Palace hotel’s Collonnade and the Galleria section. And boy was I pleasantly surprised. I overshot the budget by INR 20, that’s it. Just INR 20!! Soft ambient music, huge palatial spaces, people talking in low voices and the marble floor that sparkles to perfection can be really intimidating, especially when all of this is surrounded by top-notch designers ranging from Rajesh Pratap Singh to Pankaj & Nidhi and Namrata Joshipura to Manoviraj Khosla. But I did discover really interesting home decor and accessories here. Read on to check out my finds.

Play Clan

As we glided down the silent elevator to Level C, our first stop was at Play Clan. A Delhi brand, Play Clan set up shop in the Collonnade about two years ago. They make everything from interesting maps to quirky shirts, coasters to funky hand-embroidered canvas and what not, all in their signature style of doodles and illustrations. My heart fell for this super fun graphic tray because of the colours and the design. Plus, you never know when guests might come calling right?

Damages: That’s INR 10,000 minus INR 1,650, which gives us INR 8,350 more to splurge.

Tulsi

Tulsi is a home decor store that has a high-end section {read really pricey} and one that is slightly inexpensive. They also offer apparel and accessories, but their cushion covers, table runners and other small items are really covet-worthy. This graphic cushion cover is perfect to add to that old-world charm to your living space.

Anantaya Decor

Anantaya Decor makes home accessories that range from sets of gorgeous-looking golden forks and spoons to delicate goblets straight out of a French Riviera party. But these most beautiful hanging tealight holders in ceramic really caught our eye. They’re so subtle, well designed and we love the no-frills feel to it. Imagine these beauts hanging from your ceiling. Ah!

Portside Cafe

Beautifully crafted leather products for everyone who loves a little bit of finesse, Portside Cafe is all about minimalist, vintage designs. The brand makes luxury furniture all out of leather — beds, couches, tables, bars, you name it. Everything is rather steep her but we managed to get our hands on these lovely visiting card holders for a reasonable price.

Damages: That’s INR 4,560 minus INR 1,450, which leaves us with INR 3,110.

Anokhi

Well one can’t not love Anokhi with their beautiful printed skirts, kurtas and even notebooks that are really one of a kind. And how can we forget that lovely kaftans and kurtas in sizes-for-all. We decided to give the apparel a miss since we were on a budget, and so we bought not one, but two accessories instead. This simple necklace in lavender made of cotton thread is a great understated accessory and the cotton printed potli, well that always comes in in handy, right?

Damages: That’s INR 3,110 minus INR 600 for the neckpiece and INR 350 for the cotton potli, so a total of 950, which gives us INR 2,160 more to shop with.

Mogra

Mogra is all about OTT ethnic outfits — pretty clothes you can wear to your cousin’s wedding or even your own. Anju Modi, Nalini Malhotra and Vaachi are a few among the thirty odd designers they host at the store. They have everything from lehengas to churidars and everything in between, a lovely collection of sequin stoles in cashmere and silk and even some pretty ethnic baubles. But we went for these comfortable leather chappals in orange for its colour and well, they can be worn with almost anything.

Damages: That’s INR 2,160 minus INR 2,180 which means we overshot the budget by INR 20, but the sweet lady at the counter said she would waive it off. So yay!
