You never know who the next Booker Prize winner might be? If you think you’ve got it in you, then don’t waste another second and submit your bestseller idea to LitMart, a forum at the Bangalore Literature Festival where aspiring writers can pitch their ideas to publishers, editors and agents.

All you aspiring writers {we know that there are quite a few of you in they city}, now’s the chance to put your money where your mouth is and pitch your best literary idea to a room full of eminent judges. Why? Because you stand a shot of getting your book stacked on shelves of bookstores all over.

Coming to town, once a year, along with the Bangalore Literature Festival, LitMart is in town for its fourth time. Bring a panel of fitting judges to screen through the entries, 25 finalists will be picked out to personally pitch their ideas to literary agents, commissioning editors and publishers. With only a few days left to submit your work, don’t waste another second and try your luck. How, you ask? Read on.

Step By Step

Accepting applications online up until Friday, October 20, fill up a form here, elucidating your idea in not more than 250 words. This must consist of a proposal or synopsis of the story idea, background and/or characterisation and a quick plot summary. Don’t forget to attach a page of your manuscript too. Accepting only work written in English, you can get creative with themes and genres as they’re open to fiction and non-fiction entries.

If you’ve cleared the online pitch, you along with 24 other lucky writers, and an additional 10 waitlisted entries, can pitch in-person your idea to the jury and a live audience too at the festival on Sunday, October 29. But make sure your pitch doesn’t extend the allotted three-minute time slot. If everything works out in your favour, you should be well on your way to becoming a published author.
