Heavy duty Punjabi food with some really decadent twists. Though the names of the dishes are pretty cheeky, the essence of it is still good old north Indian food.

Winning For

Really good Punjabi food and the Gucci Pulao wins hands down.

Lowdown On The Ambience

While their other restaurant Farzi is all about a pretty ambience, twinkling lights and beachy vibes, Made In Punjab keeps it really simple with comfortable seating, muted lighting and a bar area. The focus here is on the food and eating in a comfortable setting.

What's On The Menu?

We’d give our vote to the Kala Khatta Chuski, an alcoholic but really pleasant take on the popular street style iced lolly. The cocktail came with a hint of lime and a black salt rimmed glass and one has to dip in the chuski and suck it all up. The menu here might baffle you with many choices, so don’t forget to ask for help. Vegetarian food is given equal footage here as much as non vegetarian.

We started off with a bunch of vegetarian starters out of which the Jowar  and Mushroom Tikki, grilled paneer coated with papad crumbs and the Dahi Ke Kebab {made with hung curd and flavoured with spices,} stood out. The Burnt Lehsuni Tikka was extra garlicky because the kebabs came topped with lots of fried garlic, the LOL Tikki, a Leg Of Lamb tikki with some bone marrow added in and served with smokey tomato chutney was a hit as was the really succulent Legacy Tandoori Champ, mutton ribs grilled with authentic Tandoori masala.

Main Attractions

Don’t fill yourself up with too many starters, because when you sink your teeth into the Luxury BC aka Luxury Butter Chicken mopped up with laccha parathas, you will agree with our advice. The butter chicken is creamy and sinful {we stopped counting the calories long time back}. The Maa Ki Daal was competent, but save room for the ridiculously good Nalli Hard Kaur, tender lamb shanks dunked in a gravy made rich with yoghurt and caramelised onions. And the piece de resistance has to be the Gucchi Pulao, a tawa pulao cooked with paneer stuffed morels or Kashmiri gucci mushrooms. This could easily be the Punjabi equivalent of the truffle risotto, because this mushroom pulao is really worth making that trek to UB City. We refused to let go of the leftovers and got home a doggie bag {the mushrooms are super expensive too}.

So, We're Thinking...

Made In Punjab meals are not for everyday dinner. They call for an occasion — a reason to celebrate with the family. And more than the starters, we’d say make a beeline for their mains. We are going back for the Gucci Pulao soon.
