We were pretty sad when Chef Ammar Molki's Byblos in Indiranagar shut down during the pandemic but we only had to wait until the end of 2022 to get happy again as Chef Ammar's Maffei Kitchen has brought back Lebanese food and more to the busy Koramangala.
We've already popped up here more than enough times to have our favourites already. But before we get to food, let's talk ambience. The two-floor space is luxuriously done up in green and gold with the top floor featuring a wine bar. It's a pretty spot for date nights, family dinners, and of course when you want to just have some good food with good company in a good spot. We always pick the downstairs seating because we can peek into the open kitchen and see our pita bread and grills made to order. Plus, Chef Ammar is usually around in his cheerful self, and it is always a pleasure saying hi to him.
Okay, coming to the food. It's a visual treat to start with (doesn't help that there are TVs that showcase everything on the menu). Our go-to order is the Classic Hummus with that soft pita bread. There's an option to add chicken, lamb and even mushroom on top of the hummus. From the grills section, our pick is the Lamb Adana Kabas, which features succulent minced lamb skewers and spices from Adana, Turkey. The menu features Lebanese, Greek, Mediterranean, and Moroccan primarily so you'll find tabouleh, tangines (stew), and manakeesh, which is Lebanese pizza and the za'atar is our favourite. There's a minced lamb variant, which we are told is spectacular.
For desserts, baklava and kunafa are what we recommend.
