What Makes It Awesome

We were a bit sad that Chef Ammar Molki closed down Byblos in Indiranagar and we didn't know where to get our Lebanese fare, especially the Beiruti Hummus and the Kibbeh. Luckily for us, just like how the pandemic was a blur, in almost no time, Chef Ammar opened up Maffei Kitchen on the bustling lanes of Koramangala 5th Block and what a space it is. If you remember Byblos, you'll find Maffei Kitchen is nothing like that. There's a luxe element to the whole space. With an upper floor complete with a wine bar, you'll see plush seating and an open kitchen where you can see everything from the grill to fresh pita being made. There are days when Chef Ammar might be around, so definitely say hello to him and ask him for a recommendation in case you're overwhelmed by the Levantine spread.

Or you can continue reading this recommendation and we'll tell you what our favourites are. The multiple times we've been here, we've always ordered the rich, creamy, and perfect Beiruti Hummus. It comes with a freshly baked pita that will have you asking for seconds and thirds. There's a Harrisa version too. If you love Levantine salad spread, we definitely will steer you towards the fresh, Tabouleh. The Kibbeh must be ordered if you like lamb — we like that the quality of the lamb is good. The Lamb Adana is our usual pick from the grill section and on days when it's sold out, we usually go for the simple Lebanese Grilled Chicken. It's lightly spiced and served with grilled veggies and pita. If you are coming in a group, get the platter option that features assorted Hot Mezze such as Batata Harara and Sambusek Lahme. It's served with hummus and pita on the side.

For mains, if you still have the space, we recommend trying one of the tagines — a Moroccon-North African stew. Or you could repeat one of the grills or go for a wrap. But save space for trying the Za'atar Manakeesh. Finish off your meal with some baklava.

We are not as regular as we want to be here, but when someone is craving some Lebanese food, we always make it a point to drop by here.
