Safaris, Swimming And Super Service At Meghauli Serai Resort In Nepal

Taj Safaris, Taj Hotel’s wing for luxury wildlife travel, has opened a new resort, Meghauli Serai, in Nepal.

What Is It?

The Meghauli Serai resort, at the Chitwan National Park, makes for an absorbing holiday with wildlife safaris while in a relaxed, luxury setting. The Taj Hotel Group’s first such lodge outside India, the Meghauli Serai offers a mix of local traditions with luxury hospitality—basically what they’re known for.

Where Can I Stay?

The resort has multiple options for accommodation. If you’re lucky you can book the expensive, elegant, Presidential Suite on the banks of the nearby Rapti River, complete with a private deck and second bathroom. If that is not your style, then you can pick from the 13 rooms, with balconies overlooking the Chitwan National Park and surrounding grasslands, or from the 16 Rapti Villas, with each having an attached private plunge pool.

What Can I Do?

The star of the show at Meghauli Serai is the wildlife, of course. You can soak in the natural splendour of Nepal on elephant-back, via jeep safari, or through jungle walks. Gain an appreciation of what traditional village life is all about with walks through the local Tharu village, where you can learn moonshining for local brews, or how to make fresh Nepalese pickles.

Thanks to the neighbouring Rapti river, you can enjoy canoeing, or go trekking through the vibrant Himalayan foothills. You can also enjoy elephant bathing and feeding sessions, arranged by the lodge.

What Else To Expect

Expect 24-hour in-room dining, complimentary Wi-Fi in public areas, a children’s play area, a library and conference room {we hope you don’t work on this trip!}. You also get access to a fitness centre, massage rooms, the Jiva Spa and a large, outdoor pool.

There is a 24-hour, on-call doctor, private butlers, 24-hour laundry and baby-sitting for toddlers and young guests, also available. Everything you need to keep you satisfied.

Our Say

If you’re looking for a luxurious, interactive family getaway then Meghauli Serai by Taj Safaris seems a safe bet. The resort-lodge offers the best of both worlds, with your conventional safari and trekking experience going hand-in-hand with a pampered, extravagant stay.
