We’d been hearing about Mirth ever since it opened, but it took us about six months to finally drop by and check out the space that’s become a regular haunt for some of our closest friends. Started by four friends who wanted to open a drinking space, Mirth checks all the boxes for what a cocktail bar should be.
Mirth In Indiranagar Is The Bar Our Friends Won’t Shut Up About And We See Why
The Space
For us, a cocktail bar is a space to go after work, for a friend’s birthday, or on date nights. At Mirth, you’ll find all three and more happening without any of them spilling over, even though it’s just a 65-seater.
The lighting is ambient (great because you can spot that friend who’s come in late without having to squint), the walls are red, and if you ever find it packed, you can step out into the al fresco seating overlooking 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar. There’s a minimal, understated ease to the space, so you’ll never feel overdressed or underdressed.
Tipple & Nosh
We’ll admit that, because we dropped by on a weeknight, we ended up skipping the tipple. That said, the staff did recommend a few drinks for us to try. The bar programme was developed by Dev Narvekar of Petisco, Goa fame, with Omkar Parab helming the Mirth cocktail programme and serving up a list of inventive cocktails.
Our friends swear by a bunch of them, including the Picante Zaai, an odd yet delicious mix of tequila and Goan cafreal flavours. Clear Intentions combines gin with pineapple and lychee in a clarified format, while Mango Reverie brings in raw mango cordial.
We stuck to zero-proof options instead: Kokomo, which pairs pandan and coconut, and Garden Mist, a grapefruit-yuzu blend. Which meant we doubled down on the food and we’re glad we did.
We ordered the Bangkok Stir, Crackle Pork, Goa Glow, and East Meets Mezze. The Bangkok Stir is a basil- and chilli-loaded chicken stir fry that pairs well with lighter drinks (or, in our case, the Garden Mist), while the Crackle Pork hits all the right notes with its gochujang flavours. The Mezze features an edamame hummus you’ll keep going back to, while Goa Glow, featuring thecha prawns with hints of balsamic, stands out.
Among the newer dishes that our friends recommended, Enoki Nights (crispy enoki mushrooms) and Sunny Side South—a take on ros omelette with Malvan curry and sourdough—are worth calling out.
Final Thoughts
Our friends are such regulars that we’ve almost turned regulars here. Need we say more?
