Shortcut

A one-stop-shop for heritage textiles, Mithila, on Residency Road, showcases sarees, suits and accessories that have been sourced from around the country.

What Makes It Awesome

Part of Devatha Plaza, on Residency Road, Mithila is a plush store that sources traditional wear from all over India. Their in-house team travels to the far corners of the country and works with weavers and artisans to create a curated collection. What we love is that a lot of their offerings, while made with traditional fabrics, feature contemporary designs.

Kora Silks, with vintage floral prints, Maheshwaris that sport a splash of neon and Kota Doriya sarees can be found on their shelves. Pick up off-white and gold Tussar Silks that are dotted with delicate flowers and over-the-top Banarasis in a multitude of colours such as blue, reds, pinks and greens that’ll have you looking like a queen. They have other six-yard drapes with Shibori, Kantha work, and Kalamkari prints. They also stock up on Bandhej sarees and patola ikat weaves from Gujarat in bright candy colours. If you prefer suits they have kurtas, salwar sets, and unstitched suits in silk, Jaipur cotton with block prints starting at INR 2,000. Spot a wide variety of dupattas and stoles made out handlooms and weaves of India. The store also has a cozy corner for jewellery from Amrapali and silk purses and pouches starting at INR 1,000.

What Could Be Better

They do have a website you can shop from but it’s best you drop by the store as the offerings on the online portal are limited.
