The Princess Diaries
At some point, we all have dreamt of being a princess/prince, haven’t we? The Princess Diaries, the feel good movie with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews surely has a special place in our hearts. The movie where Mia, a normal teenage girl in San Francisco finds out that she is the Princess of Genovia and has to prove to her grandmother, The Queen that she is worthy of the title. Grab some tubs of popcorn, get your girls together and enjoy this movie that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy.
The Notebook
We totally understand your woes if you are currently apart from your sweet valentine (bae) and are missing each other a little too much. Turn your rather dull evening into a date night and watch one of the most romantic movies - The Notebook together. This romantic movie where Duke reads to a fellow patient who is suffering from Alzheimer's the story of Noah and Allie, a young couple who fall in love with each other and are separated by fate. It is sure to take you on a roller coaster of feelings and maybe even cry a little.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
If you are a sucker for feel-good, romantic movies, and if they sure are one of your guilty pleasures, then a rerun of the Netflix special movie - To All The Boys I’ve Before with your gang is mandatory. Lara Jean’s entire world turns topsy turvy when the secret love letters she wrote get delivered to each of her five crushes. Get your tissue paper box ready and lots of popcorn as this movie is sure to make you feel all the feelings you have never felt before (maybe).
Elf
While it might not be Christmas anytime soon but we all sure can use some Christmas cheer, can’t we? What better way to spread some joy than to e-connect with your best buddies and laugh out loud watching a comedy that everyone loves. Elf, a movie where a north-pole elf finds himself to be a misfit among other elves and moves to New York to find his real father. It is witty, funny, and is sure to make you laugh. Elf is a perfect movie that you can watch with your friends.
Blended
Who can ever say no to an Adam Sandler movie? Not us, for sure! One of our favourite movies that leaves us in splits of laughter is Blended. Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, Blended is a laughter riot. When a blind date goes wrong, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore find themselves holidaying at a exotic African resort. You can watch it with your family, friends and also bae for a light, fun movie night.
Hotel Transylvania
Animated movies? Hell yeah! One of favourites is got to be Hotel Transylvania. If you haven’t watched it yet, now might be a good time to watch this cute and super feel good movie. In this movie, Dracula who owns a hotel for monsters does everything in his power to keep his daughter away from falling in love with a human. It is a great movie to watch with your friends, family, bae, almost anyone and you sure will be smiling at the end of it.
The Trial Of The Chicago Seven
A film based on true events that occurred in Chicago 1968 during the the Democratic Party Convention, The Trial Of The Chicago 7 is brilliant. It follows activists Tom Hayden, Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, among others against the rather unpopular Nixon government, and sending of American troops to Vietnam. The "seven" key people standing trial for apparently inciting violence are as varied as you'll find. Watch with intrigue as somewhere along the way, they too begin to have ideological and political differences, but don't waver in their unity before the judge! It is a good almost documentary version of the case with a stellar cast Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton and Eddie Redmayne among others.
Enola Holmes
We loved the light-hearted-but-with-a-social-message Enola Holmes, starring the lovely Millie Bobby Brown in the titular role. The youngest of the famous Holmes', she is intelligent, fierce and defies social norms - something her fabulous mother, Eudoria (played by Helena Bonham Carter) encourages. So instead of school, her lessons include chess, jujitsu and life skills. Everything takes a turn when Enola finds her mother missing. Her brothers Mycroft and Sherlock return home to look for Eudoria, but it's Enola who eventually picks up on the trail. Watch as she goes on an adventure with the young Viscount Tewkesbury, and takes you on a wild ride through London of 1900 when women were fighting for equality. Henry Cavill makes an appearance as Sherlock, and that's always great eye candy.
Holidate
A typical holiday film which follows the script of every other Christmas film, Holidate is perfect to sit in bed one weekend with you TV on, but brain off. Of course, boy meets girl, they love each other but don't realise it until two minutes before the film ends. But somehow, you still love it, and need tissues at the end, as if you didn't know what was going to happen. This one has Emma Stone and Luke Bracey as the lead lovers. Watch, enjoy, and forever remember that you will not get those 103 minutes of your life back...ever. Merry Christmas!
The Grinch
If you haven't already started your holiday movie marathon, then nothing like the movie that celebrates the spirit of Christmas, even though The Grinch hates Christmas. At least 95 per cent of the movie. Brilliantly voiced by the enigmatic Benedict Cumberbatch, it's an animated retelling of Dr. Seuss' classic. Watch it with the little ones, your younger sibling or with a cup of hot chocolate, and make merry!
