What Makes It Awesome
A 10-day bazaar where you can shop for a wide range of accessories, silver jewellery, metal crafts, wooden furniture, ceramics and pottery, paintings, and handwoven and block-printed textiles sounds awesome, right? It is especially when you know that your contribution goes a long way in seeing these artisans from all over the country get the recognition they deserve. It doesn't matter whether you favour the Kantha embroidery from West Bengal or the really pretty Sarkanda glass work and Khurja painted pottery, from Uttar Pradesh, you will find yourself having new favourites along with the old ones.
The fest will also have craft workshops for you to attend. Don't miss out on the Madhubani painting, clay modelling, Phad painting and step by step craft demonstrations including hand block printing on fabric. Plus, not to mention the South Indian dance performances including a melam performance which is a percussion performance from Kerala and something not to be missed. Once you are done shopping or in between when you need to take a break, hit up the food stalls that will be serving traditional but multi-cuisine food including authentic cuisines from Maharashtra, Rajasthan (think chaat and laal maas) and home-baked cookies and cakes.
ProTip
Carry plenty of change just in case. Plus, you can buy the tickets at the venue itself.
