Snorkelling, Beach Footy And Diving: You've Got To Hit Up India’s First Scuba Diving Festival

What Is It?

Touted to be the first scuba diving festival, the Netrani Scuba Diving Festival is here to shine the spotlight on the underwater world. A two-day gala that is set on the Netrani island off Murudeshwar, it has been picked for being one of the best dive sites on the west coast of India. In addition to scuba diving, obviously, there’s plenty in store for all you enthusiasts — from films about the sport, talks and discussions to games on the beach and in the water.

Who Is It For?

It’s for all you water babies and divers — noobs to serious pros, there’s plenty for you to do at this festival. While there is a significant number of underwater escapades expected, you don’t need to be a licensed diver to attend. It’s open to anyone who’s even remotely intrigued by the underwater world. And surely that is everyone! How can you not be fascinated by the gorgeous world beneath?

Why Should I Go For It?

Since it’s the first of its kind in the country, we have nothing to compare it to, but the plans look lit! Even if you aren’t a diver, there are out-of-water activities like movies, talks and exhibitions {a lovely photography one which documents adventure sports and the underwater world}. Plus, beach football, spikeball and some fun water rides like the banana boat. It might also be the ideal time for you to turn into a diver as they’ve organised a few trial dives. Try it, you might just get hooked! But if you are a diver, then you have to show your solidarity and be here! Not that you’ll need much convincing what with dives, underwater hockey and snorkelling all part of the schedule. Needless to say, the approach to the island itself is ace with water bodies, bridges and mountains and the massive temple and statue that sits on the edge of the ocean. What are you waiting for?
