Led Zeppelin, Wood-Fired Pizzas & Beer At Koramangala's New Old-School Bar

Koramanagala’s newest bar, Gorilla Barfare is all about gorillas, Led Zeppelin, and wood-fired pizzas. Plus, come match days, you’ve got yourself the perfect spot to cheer for your team.

When it comes to new hangout spots, Koramangala never seems to run out of space. Gorilla Barfare {top marks on the word play}, the new entrant, is located where Jimi’s used to be. Apart from the brick facade, the entire look and feel of the place has been changed. You are welcomed by glass poster of a very dapper looking gorilla {Harambe, apparently} that sets the tone for the decor. Walls are adorned with murals or posters of handsome gorillas in different avatars. All for you to Instagram.

Pick the outdoor seating with wooden chairs and tables, and plenty of greens to keep you company. Even the din from the road is bearable thanks to rock legends such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and The Beatles, playing loud and clear. Kudos to the playlist, something even the old Jimi’s was known for. If you are coming in for game nights, grab tables indoors and order yourself pitchers of draught beer and cheer.

If you are a regular at The Local, which is above Barfare, you will notice that the menu has borrowed elements {read: favourites}. Start off with the Nachos, Schezwan Momos, and Crispy Peking Chicken along with draught beer. If you are thinking of cocktails, try their frozen cocktail specials. They are basically slushies with alcohol — perfect for these summer days. Of course, to be had with Chilli Beer and Paneer Tikka too.

A brick oven is hard to miss and so is the pizza menu. Hand tossed and thin crust pizzas are your options, and Chicken Supreme with grilled chicken, chicken sausages, and spicy chicken is our go-to pizza. Burger and steaks are up for grabs if you or anyone is feeling particularly ravenous. While we haven’t tried it, we hear Pork Ribs are a must try. Maybe next time when Manchester United plays we’ll be there. Also, if you like custom burgers, ask for their Build Your Own Burger menu!

Gorilla Barfare’s vibe and ambience easily grow on you and we are only wishing they increase their pizza options. For now, we’ve found making plans to go back here! Also, maybe they should play Gorillaz on their playlist too, just to complete the circle.
