Eating India on a thali
At Samaroh’s seven-course thali meal expect, plated and pre-plated dishes plus fresh drinks and cooking down with fresh, seasonal fare. Begin your meal with Zafram Moti, a dry fruit-based sweet, then move on to the Kesari Shorba, a frothy affair and tuck into Khaja, a sweet treat from Orissa. There is pani puri on offer but apparently with a twist.
For mains, there is Paanch Anaj ki Roti aka a multi grain roti that packs in the nutrients and goodness of chana, bajra, jowar and makai. And healthy rotis need a curry or two, so then opt for the Saamroh Kofta, steamed kofta filled with nuts, served in a pomegranate gravy. And that’s not all. Dals, four kinds of curries and veggies, and Dahi Gudiya are other highlights. Dessert here is Sondesh Souffle or Khubani Aur Band Dahi ka Meetha, and some Maghai Paan ki Jodi. The feast here is served on bronze thalis, and apparently the pure copper make takes inspiration from Ayurveda and helps detoxify, build immunity and also improve on stomach issues.
