Charon, the owner of Taste Of Blighty grew fond of pies and on-the-go desserts during her stay in the United Kingdom. The love grew manifold after she got married to Aman, a British diplomat. As British tradition would have it, the duo would prepare desserts and other bakes on the occasion of the Queen’s birthday and boy the word of her delectable sweet treats spread quickly. It is rumoured their Sticky Toffee Pudding was sought by the Queen of England herself! Soon, the couple shifted countries and came to settle in Whitefield, Bengaluru. They got their baking finesse with them and to fill a void left behind in their many travel memoirs, they started Taste Of Blighty.
Today, the cloud kitchen sells vegetarian potted desserts, cakes, pies, Turkish pide, quiche, artisanal breads, tarts and cheesecakes. Their bestseller amongst the potted dessert has to be their Salted Caramel Choc Pot that with its biscuity crunch and light creamy texture is lighter than a cheesecake but packed with flavour, caramel + salt = can’t go wrong. They even boast of their Strawberry Trifle, a brit classic that comes with a jammy fruit compote put to bed by a nice cream layer. Both are gluten free! We also love the French Barbeque Chicken Quiche, crusty and soft with a creamy sauce and veggies. Best for a tea-time snack, we say. Then there’s pide, a Turkish flatbread shaped like a boat that houses stranded veggies or meat fillings of your choice. Do check out their range of pies (re: pumpkin pie), breads (try croissants and pita breads) as well.
