When it comes to highstreet shopping, the city, for the most part, is very clearly divided — those who go to Phoenix Marketcity and those who count on Orion Mall. If you belong to the latter category, congratulations you’ve come to the right place. We understand you. You run to Zara {woman or man} for those sales, new collections and general browsing at Orion Mall. But you don’t need to stop at just this brand. Here are five others that’ll make your trip to Yeshwantpur-Malleswaram area much more worth it. Bring out the shopping bags!

The sole representative of Aeropostale in the city, hit up the American mall-based store for apparel and accessories that’ll make you feel under 25. Ladies can stock up on casual tees, polo t-shits with stripes and even funky shorts. They’re also responsible for bringing back bermudas! Check out their range of cute-meets-quirk underwear. One even says Beach Bum! Men, they have everything to take you from the Bohemian beach side look courtesy shorts and singlets to smart evening wear with chinos and dark denims.

Sailors, ahoy! Look no further than Nautica if looking smart but casual is your idea of style. Inspired by the concept of seamanship, action and adventure apparel is what you’ll get here. We love that the men have more here to keep them spiffy — from button down shirts and chinos to linen shorts and polo t-shirts. For the ladies, expect bold silhouettes and block prints with a soft color palette of navy, ivory, and pale heather grey. We do love their elegant trousers and pencil skirts, ideal for brunch or better still, that cruise holiday. Both the sections will naturally have sea-inspired patterns and prints {hulls, ships and anchors}, with accents of sea glass green throughout.

The first GAP store in the city, this one has menswear, womenswear and of course BabyGAP for the mini fashionistas. Best known for their classic American look, which of course includes plenty of denim, their jeans, jackets, dresses and dungarees in the fabric are dominant. Colourful and simple, the current collection features sweaters, pullovers and crewneck sweater tees for men and women. T-shirt dresses and smocks will signal the arrival of autumn, ladies. And for the little ones’ look out for uber cute sweaters, fluffy jackets and striped bottoms. Across the board however, the quintessential GAP print will prevail.

When Zara just doesn’t quite cut it for you, skip across to Mango. While the store here is a bit small, it’s really got the essentials be it bags, shoes, dresses or jackets. Our suggestion is to forget the dresses, tops and skirts here. Make a beeline for the jackets, cardigans and coats. So pretty and so elegant, the ribbed sweaters and textured knits have us ogling. For those who like asymmetrical capes and jackets, voila! You’ll be spoiled for choice here. Men, sorry but you’ll have to look elsewhere, only ladies here.

Every makeup fan’s dream come true, Sephora took it’s time to come to town, but now that it’s here — woohoo! You can swoon over the options when it comes to brands as they stock Make Up For Ever, Stila, Benefit, Estee Lauder, Christian Dior and thankfully, the vast and wonderful in-house brand. So whatever your budget, you’ll find something to jazz up those eyes, lips and cheeks. For the lads, there’s a small but good selection of aftershaves, balms, salve and lotions. Skin care and bath essentials for men and women are also aplenty.

Special Mention: Dianese

When you’re done with the fashion section, and you’re feeling the adventurous streak in you shine through, don’t look left or right — go straight to Dianese. With apparel {think jackets, riding pants, leather suits}, safety gear in the form of gloves and helmets you’ll be sorted if your kind of adrenaline rush involves mountain biking, motorbiking, skiing and horse riding}. They even have a splendid vintage collection to the adventurous at heart. That means leather jackets, biking boots and trousers for men and women.
